British Customs: When did you start riding?

Jason Fragale: Outside of garage built mini-bikes, serious riding started at age 40 (when my maturity level started to match my pain threshold)

BC: What was your first bike?

JF: 1977 Yamaha XS1100 stripped and built to a cafe racer

BC: What is your background/interest in motorcycle customization? Family hobby, self-taught, trained pro, etc?

JF: My tinkering is self-taught, started with cars from early age (67 Chevelle keeps my bike company). I know just enough about bikes to be dangerous. Hurrah for the experienced wrenchers on YouTube to get me out of jams!

BC: What is your inspiration when wrenching on or designing your bike?

JF: I’m really into aesthetics and overall vision, keeping it simple but making it functional and comfortable to ride. All of it leading to a visceral experience.

BC: What things outside of motorcycling inspire you?

JF: The arts, power of nature, life experiences.

BC: What are your goals in the coming year?

JF: Drop off the grid with a long distance ride that never touches a main highway.
